Reasons Why I Believe Women Think Differently Than Men

Men pay attention!!!

It is said that women and men think differently. I agree; all men agree. I’m going to share a couple of reasons why I know this to be true.

I am fortunate to still be married after 35 years and have been blessed with two lovely daughters. I have had a front-row seat to watching these girls be taught and influenced by their mother. I’m not saying that everything discussed today was shared in my presence, but looking back I can remember instances that relate. Girls closely observe things growing up and they don’t ever forget. Men pay attention!!!

According to the American Psychological Association, “about 40 to 50 percent of married couples in the United States divorce. The divorce rate for subsequent marriages is even higher.” (Topics-Divorce, 2019) If children are involved, the mother typically is given custody and the father is given child support. Girls see single-parent households and ask “Why?” They see those moms with all the family responsibility and they don’t forget it. Girls don’t ever forget. Men pay attention!!!

Girls grow up seeing the little old ladies, alone. They ask, “Where are the little old men?” Then they learn that 50% of men die single, but 80% of women die alone. Girls don’t ever forget. Men pay attention!!!

So, we fast-forward to today. My girls are now all grown up into wonderful women, with children of their own, but they haven’t forgotten and they will teach my granddaughters the same lesson they learned: never to forget. Men pay attention!!

Men, now it is your turn. Remember that the woman in your life was once a girl and she doesn’t ever forget. She has a worldview that you don’t and she thinks differently than you do. So remember this especially when it comes to talking with your spouse about finances. For men, money is often black and white. For women, it can be gray as they take into account their life experiences and the many lessons they learned throughout their life. Now maybe you understand her a little better. So, men pay attention!!!
